Comfort for the Commonwealth
Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire reaches out to state workers

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire will offer a special 50% discounted adult admission August 8, 9, 15, 16, 22 and 23 to all Pennsylvania state workers who have been receiving a reduced paycheck or no paycheck at all due to the state budget impasse and their immediate family members. Workers must show their state employee identification at the Castle Gates to receive this special half-price offer.

The PA state workers have been dealing with financial hardships and much heartache because of the budget impasse. It is hard for these families to get out and go on vacation on such a limited budget. Since summer is traditionally the time for vacations the PA Renaissance Faire would like to present the state workers a cheaper alternative by offering a discount for them to spend the day away from their worries and concerns, 400 years in the past.

Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth I, welcomes these state workers to Her annual Faire of jousting Knights and Royal delights. Thirty-five acres of mirth and merriment await as hundreds of colorfully-costumed characters breathe life into an authentic recreation of a 16th century English Village complete with dozens upon dozens of authentic Tudor buildings. Musical performances, magic acts, fire-breathing stunts, puppet shows, Shakespearean plays and comical mud beggars are just a few of the many shows, over 90 stage shows daily, unfolding on 12 stages. Enjoy period foods, micro-brewed ales and sweet wines from 23 Royal Kitchens or shop from scores of Renaissance merchants.

All travelers to the Shire on August 15 and 16 have the opportunity to share the love by donating blood to the American Red Cross. By Her Majesty’s Decree, any patron who contributes will gain admission to the festival free of charge.

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, which unfolds from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and Labor Day Monday beginning August 8 and 9 and continuing thru October 24 and 25, is set amidst the splendor of the formal gardens of Mount Hope Estate & Winery located on Route 72, ½ mile south of PA Turnpike Exit 266, 15 miles north of Lancaster and 14 miles east of Hershey.
