IT’S SCOTTISH AND IRISH WEEKEND AT THE PENNSYLVANIA RENAISSANCE FAIRE!
September 12 & 13, 2009

WHO:

The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire

WHAT:

Gather up the clan and pull on your plaid as the 29th season of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire continues with a weekend dedicated to bagpipes, shamrocks, kilts and Celts.

WHEN:

Saturday and Sunday, September 12 & 13, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.


WHERE :

The Royal grounds of Mount Hope Estate and Winery, Lancaster County, Rt. 72, ½ mile south of PA Turnpike Exit 266

WHY: To share the Celtic pride at this gathering celebrating the music, food, dance and crafts of the Scottish and the Irish.


The Faire continues its 12 weekend run complete with 90 stage shows, scores of artisans, 22 Royal
Kitchens, award winning wines sampled daily, widely acclaimed ales and lagers brewed on-site and the
following additional entertainments!

THIS WEEKEND ONLY
Highland Games with Master Terry McFadden –Throw a sheaf or toss a caber just like a Scot! Those new to the sport can learn at 12 p.m., while veterans will compete at 3:30. Men in Kilts Competition – Looney Lucy and Ploppy judge the things they love most – men and the kilts they wear – with prizes and hilarity in store! Gaelic Gluttony Eating Contest – Courageous contestants will be put to the test as they stretch their stomachs for fantastic Mount Hope prizes. Taters for Tots – Wee lads and lasses are invited to grab their spoons and compete in the ageold Shire tradition of Potato Racing. Coyote Run – Enjoy Celtic musical storytelling that promise to be both heartstopping and foot-stomping. Barely Balanced – Whether whirling colorful objects (or themselves) through the air, or on stilts, this trio of daredevils are forever fighting the forces of gravity.
THE 12TH ANNUAL MEDIA OLYMPICS

On Saturday and Sunday, the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire hosts the 12th annual Media Olympics, which benefits the Make-A-Wish foundation. Media personalities and Make-A-Wish children will co-captain teams which will compete in the Maze, Lawn Bowling, Archery, and, of course, the highly anticipated Press-A-Wench competitions! Donations will be collected by merchants, performers and from the Royal Fountains. All of the proceeds from the weekend’s festivities will be presented to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Susquehanna Valley to fulfill the dreams of children with life-threatening illnesses.

Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13, visitors to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire are invited to try their hand at tossing a sheaf or hurling a caber during the Scottish and Irish Weekend's Highland Games. Those new to this sport can receive first-class instruction from Master Terry McFadden at 12pm, while those with experience may enter the Tournament of Champions at 3:30pm.

TV and radio teams will compete in Renaissance games, including the exciting Press-a-Wench, Saturday and Sunday, September 12 and 13, in Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire's 12th annual Media Olympics to raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Susquehanna Valley. Donations will be collected throughout the weekend by merchants and royal performers and from the royal fountains, which will be added to by the Queen Herself, to fulfill the dreams of children with life threatening illnesses.

Barely Balanced, a trio of daredevils who are forever fighting the forces of gravity, are bringing their fiery act to the stages of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire for four amazing weekends, beginning September 12 and 13. Witness as they hurl colorful objects, and themselves, through the air, breath fire, cavort on stilts, and more in a death-defying display of acrobatics and danger.
