Mount Hope Estate & Winery, home of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, will host “Friday Knights
at the Improv,” opening August 20. Hilarity will ensue as the knights, pirates, wenches and royalty of
the Faire step out of their 16th century characters for five consecutive Friday nights of unpredictable,
side-splitting entertainment in “The Comedy Throwdown.”
"The Comedy Throwdown” is an interactive, completely unscripted, improvisational comedy show,
where two teams enter...and one team leaves. This short-form format pits two teams against one
another in a comedic battle of wits, creating scenes, songs, and stories all based on audience
suggestions. In this unique show format, audience ideas and participation help to fuel the comedy
fire by making them part of the show. Watch, as the cast spins these outrageous suggestions into comedy gold! Scenes are then scored by an impartial judge who decides which team shall reign
supreme as the grand champion of comedy!
Before the laughter begins, or to help calm the giggles during intermission, guests will find soft drinks,
Mount Hope wines and Swashbuckler brews available for purchase. Complimentary hors d'oeuvres
will be available as well. Patrons are invited to stop by the Carriage Wine Shop before the show,
where they will be able to sample all of Mount Hope’s wines.
Friday Knights at the Improv is scheduled for August 20, 27, September 3, 10 and 17. The doors will
open at 6:30 p.m. and the performance will begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $20. Because of the nature
of the performance, patrons under the age of 18 are not encouraged to attend. Reservations are
suggested for the limited Mount Hope Mansion seating and can be made by visiting the Virtual Box
Office for advance tickets at www.PaRenFaire.com.
