A little piece of paradise will be stopping by Manheim, Pennsylvania on Saturday, July 18th. Cruise on down and park your boat, buggy or car on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire for one of the largest Tropical Rock Band Concerts held in Central Pennsylvania – Summer in Paradise 2009. Indulge in tropical tunes, cool brews, and delicious foods from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Rock Out Tropical Style |
Three of the region’s top tropical rock bands will take concertgoers on a musical journey to a tropical island. The concert begins with The CalypsoNuts, a pair of highly entertaining musicians and performers who put on more than just a concert, but a lively show as well. Between island ballads and dancing beats and a sprinkling of everything in between, this steel drum band will play a show designed uniquely for the audience to keep everyone on their feet and jamming to the beats.
Another energetic duo, singer/songwriter Tall Paul and harmonica great Crawdaddy, dubbed “Tall Daddy” for their frequent performances together, will have the crowds singing along with their mixture of rock, folk and blues. Between all their original songs and favorite Jimmy Buffett covers, there are sure to be plenty of toes tapping and hands clapping during an enjoyable musical experience for all.
Tropical Soul will rock out with tunes ranging from acoustic beach and pop covers to original “islandflavored” songs. Tropical Soul performs between 100 and 150 shows per year. Their appearances include openings for national artists such as Jimmy Buffett, Scott Kirby, Peter Mayer, Mac McAnally, Club Trini, and Bill “The Sauce Boss” Wharton, St. Somewhere, and have performed with John Frinzi and Doyle Grisham and James “Sunny Jim” White among others. Musical collaborations include R. Scott Bryan, who spent five years with the Sheryl Crow Band and who played percussion and produced both the Tropical Soul and No Plans At All CDs, and Tina Gullickson, of Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band.
Between sets, DJ Jeff Allen will be keeping the party going with his island flavored tunes and high energy entertainment. DJ Jeff Allen has been entertaining people in South Central Pennsylvania, throughout the Mid-Atlantic area, and up and down the East Coast. Jeff has a great selection of 'beach' music including classic reggae, The Beach Boys, Kenny Chesney, and of course, Jimmy Buffett and also carries a wide selection from independent Trop Rock artists from around the country. Jeff performs several times a year for Parrot Head Clubs all over. His adventures have taken him from New York City to the Outer Banks, from the Jersey Shore to Cincinnati, from Atlanta to Milwaukee, and as far south as Key West, Florida. These adventures as well as many of the Trop Rock artists he works with are chronicled on his award nominated radio show The Amish Beach Party, heard on SandBar Radio.
