Start your summer off right with flavorful and FREE fun at the eighth annual Great Pennsylvania FlavorFest™ on Memorial Day Weekend, May 23 & 24. Free admission, parking and tastings make this the “must-do event” of the summer. This tasty feast for the senses offers some of the region’s finest wineries sampling and selling their vintages, cooking demos by area culinary experts, specialty foods for sampling and sale, master artisans, live music, and an interactive crafty kid’s area.
From restaurants and specialty food vendors to wineries and local attractions, this event is the perfect opportunity to indulge in a sampler platter of the unique offerings of the Keystone state. Vendors will be scattered throughout the grounds offering tasty samples of their their signature items. Twenty-four wineries from Pennsylvania will offer samples and sales of their many varieties. Wine purchased will be packed and transported to the Wine Pick-up Area adjacent to the parking areas for guests to claim upon their departure.
In addition to sampling wines and foods, there will be a host of unique artisans selling their crafts, and local attractions highlighting the exclusive day trip opportunities in the area. Fun and educational cooking demonstrations will be served up by regional food experts, including Lancaster native, John Moeller, who worked as one of the Chefs at the White House for eight years and now owns the Lancaster-based business, State of Affairs Catering.
To round out the celebration, a mix of Pennsylvania-based musicians will provide live entertainment to create the backdrop for the festival. The featured entertainment includes Indian Summer Jars, Josh Albright, Matt Wheeler, Red Hot Ramblers and The Weathered Road and The Recessionals.
At the Crafty Kid’s area, young guests can participate in hands-on exploration of the culinary and artistic world. For a small fee, children can decorate a t-shirt using locally grown fruit and vegetables as stamps. Free children’s activities include learning about healthy eating options and the food pyramid, creating their very own noodle art, coffee filter butterflies, decorating a chef’s hat , juggling balls, seed packet markers, and more.
