The Parade of the Ale on Oktoberfest Weekend

Pull on your lederhosen, strike up the band, dance a polka and grab an ale at our very own Swashbuckler Brew Pub when Pennsylvania Dutch goes Deutsche at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. Raise a glass of ale with a toast to our own Micro-Brewery and enjoy authentic foods at the Die Deutsche Kuche where German tastes reside.

PLUS! Don't miss the traditions, dances, and foods of the Lancaster Liederkranz when the Tent of Red & White turns Biergarten with the ever-popular Potato Pancakes plus a lot of their own German recipes and traditional dances and song of the Germanic Nations!

Oktoberfest Competitions, Ceremonies & Merriements

  1. Don Juan & Miguel: Adventurous! Enthralling! Romantic! This fiery trio, Don Juan, the mysterious son of the King and Queen of Spain, his loyal manservant Miguel as well as Esmeralda, the daughter of Don Juan, charm an entire Shire while engaging in the finest sword and whip work ever seen, and humor, even more "cutting". (September 20-21, 27-28 Only)

  2. Jolly Joe & The Bavarians: Jolly Joe and his Bavarians bring the music of Germany to the Tent of Red & White to enjoy while you tantalize your taste buds with some German Fare! (September 27-28 Only)

  3. Lancaster Liederkranz Alpenrose Schuhplattler Dancers: Witness traditional Bavarian dances right before your very eyes. The may pole is a treat! (September 27-28 Only)

  4. Lancaster Liederkranz Hobby Chor: Hear some traditional German songs when these Bavarian singers raise their voices in song! (September 27-28 Only)

  5. The Ceremonial Tapping of the Keg: Brewmaster Mark Braunwarth and our very own Ale Wench along with the Lancaster Liederkranz perform this annual ceremony celebrating the new offerings of ale of the season! At Queen's Court! Don't Miss It! (September 27-28 Only)

  6. Ode to Ale: Impromptu toasts from the audience make for a hilarious event as this contest of wit challenges each and every contestant to come up with yet an even more ingenious toast! Great Mount Hope prizes for the best Odes to Ale! (September 27-28 Only)
