An Historic Estate Featuring Spectacular Entertainment on the Grounds of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire

Kullizion

• Kullizion

Kullizion, a talented group of Carlisle, PA High School freshman, makes a return visit this year to GGAF. The group formed in the spring of 2006, performing a special piece—“Funky Buckets”—on five gallon buckets and metal pails in their school’s spring concert. Kullizion has gained special attention from top Pennsylvania politicians, playing for Governor Ed Rendell’s Inauguration Celebration in March of 2007 and PA Department of Environmental Protection Secretary McGinty.

Lovell Sisters

• The Lovell Sisters Band

This trio of Georgia peaches, who also happen to be sisters, blend gorgeous vocals in heavenly harmony and play mandolin, fiddle and dobro, and are joined by talented collaborators on guitar and bass. The Lovell’s music has roots deep in bluegrass Appalachia, and branches growing ever upward and outward, towards parts as yet unknown. The Lovell Sisters Band has arrived and is making its presence felt here at GGAF!

Off'n Ensemble

• Off’n Ensemble

Off’n Ensemble, a Philadelphia-area contra dance band together for over 15 years, plays an engaging mix of rhythm-driven Irish, New England and Old Time music for dances, weddings and parties from Connecticut to Virginia. Contra dance callers Donna Hunt and Shane Knudsen join the Ensemble this weekend so Green-goers can give the fun and easy art of contra dancing a whirl!

Rik Palieri

• Rik Palieri

How many performers do you know who are as at ease singing tunes by Bluesmen Leadbelly and Son House as they are at telling a folk tale to children before leading them through a traditional Polish folk song and dance? Through his long and varied experiences as a performer, Palieri gracefully segues from original tunes on guitar to old traditional "Americana" folk songs on banjo, to intricate, involved ballads from the mountains of Poland on the rare and exotic Polish bagpipes. Palieri is a performer who can take his audience on a musical jaunt around the world without ever leaving the festival!

World Dance of Lancaster

• World Dance of Lancaster
(International Folk Dance)

Zita Angelo, a Lancaster-based international folk dance instructor with World Dance of Lancaster, has been involved in IFD for over 30 years and is dedicated to presenting World Dance to as many people as possible, in a relaxed and accessible atmosphere. She enjoys sharing her love of IFD in the belief that it promotes wholesome social interaction, provides intellectual stimulation including appreciation of many cultures and styles of music, and is such an enjoyable way to exercise that one looks forward to participating. No previous dance experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and have fun!

Adrienne Young

• Adrienne Young

This darling of the Americana music scene is making her second appearance at GGAF. Adrienne Young is such an ardent supporter of sustainable agriculture that she bundled seed packets into the liner notes of her Grammy-nominated first album, Plow to the End of the Row. Adrienne is deeply committed to FoodRoutes and “Buy Fresh, Buy Local,” so much so that she has integrated a national responsible-farming awareness campaign and fund-raising effort into the release of current CD, Room to Grow, creating a perfect marriage between her convictions and her talent.

Zydeco-A-Go-Go

• Zydeco-A-Go-Go

Zydeco-A-Go-Go, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier practitioners of Louisiana dance music, is bringing the zydeco party to the people. Their motto is: “Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!” (“Let the Good Times Roll!”). The band makes it look so easy, bringing festival-goers, dancers, and revelers the music they can’t resist—ZYDECO!—.a blend of Cajun two-steps, funky New Orleans rhythm & blues and swinging Louisiana rock & roll. It all adds up to a wild & swingin’ ZYDECO DANCE PARTY! Speaking of which, the band will host a rollickin’ dance party each afternoon, so be prepared for FUN!

Eletfa Hungarian Folk Ensemble• Eletfa Hungarian Folk Ensemble
The color and sound of authentic Hungarian folk music comes alive when Életfa takes the stage bringing music from Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. This colorful group gets its power and drive from being true to the village traditions and respecting the stylistic differences between the different villages. The group is intimately tied to dance, and most of the musicians ARE outstanding dancers, a powerful combination that enables Eletfa to whip any audience up into a dancing frenzy! You won’t want to miss the energy and excitement created in their daily performances and dances during GGAF!

Gandalf Murphy• Gandalf Murphy & the Slambovian Circus of Dreams
This quirky quartet has toured throughout the northeast for a decade now and has developed a fiercely loyal, all-ages following. Featured recently in Relix Magazine, the New York Times and on the CBS hit show, Joan of Arcadia, the band's charismatic live performances and whimsical blend of folk, rock, hillbilly and pop have simply captivated audiences and critics alike. As earthy as their music is, The Circus has a spiritual side, too, dancing freely between existing religious and philosophical mythologies. Their music is not only uplifting and empowering but fun, a lot of fun!

Hot Buttered Rum• Hot Buttered Rum
Hot Buttered Rum has been praised by fans, peers and national media alike, recognizing their stunning instrumental and vocal virtuosity. The Band attracts a truly multi-generational audience with its ability to create an undeniably hip and fresh sound that weaves together the grounded traditions of folk and bluegrass with the modern influences of rock-n-roll, reggae and acoustic singer/songwriters. Armed with a conviction beyond the music, Hot Buttered Rum has taken a conscious stance in respect to touring and fuel consumption. The band travels the country on their tour bus that was custom converted to run recycled vegetable oil, bio-diesel and regular diesel. It is a moving testament to the band's commitment to the use of alternative fuels and leaving the lightest environmental footprint while touring.
