Victorian Mount Hope Mansion

Mount Hope Mansion in Lancaster County was built in 1800 as a grand rural retreat for four continuous generations of the wealthy colonial American ironmaster Grubb family. Renovated and enlarged at the height of the Victorian Era, it is a simply delightful estate, particularly during the holiday season when she is dressed in her holiday finery.

In a multiple day decorating extravaganza, Mount Hope Mansion is transformed inside and out into a seasonal wonderland. Beginning with the gigantic wreath hung over the golden knocker on the front door and on through the entrance hall, library, dinning room, ballroom, billiards room, theater room and parlors, the decorations echo the classic elegance and romantic sophistication of the Victorian era. Boughs of deliciously aromatic evergreens topped with velvet ribbons are strung from floor to ceiling and run throughout the halls. Gigantic Victorian displays adorn the many mantles, while glowing candles twinkle in every window and throughout the outside grounds surrounding the Mansion. Nine opulent Christmas trees, the largest of which stands at an impressive 12 feet, are bedecked with silk roses, garlands of pearls, feathered birds, and other Victorian ornaments.

Come together with family and friends for merrymaking and good cheer during the annual Open House at Mount Hope Estate & Winery.
