Calling all Lords, Ladies, Pirates & Peasants

In preparation for its 44th performance season, The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire is seeking a diverse group of actors to portray a multitude of characters. Auditions are set for February 2024. All cast members, together with a Renaissance village full of guildsmen and artisans, independent musicians, jousters, fire-eaters, sword-swallowers, and the like, perform for hundreds of thousands of patrons annually, transporting them back to the 16th century.

The 44th season of the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire starts August 17th and continues every Saturday, Sunday through October 27th. Please see details below.

Faire Cast

Full-Time Cast: Bacchanalians

Full-Time Bacchanalian Cast: The full-time, professional Bacchanalian acting company consists of 35 to 40 experienced male and female actors, singers, and dancers from across the country. The Bacchanalians will perform swashbuckling swordplay shows, Shakespearean dramas, interactive improvised scenarios, and rollicking music and dance numbers, all while portraying Elizabethan characters. Housing is available with salaries starting at $350 per week.

Audition Dates: March 2nd & 3rd, 2024
Times: Between 10am and 4pm
Location: Azuka Theater (1700 Samson St. Suite 800, Philadelphia PA 19103)

Additional Details: Those auditioning should prepare a 1-minute monologue, 16 bars (30 seconds) of acapella song, headshot, and resume. You are welcome but not required to bring your instrument if you are a musician. Callbacks will be held throughout the day and include group improvisation, so wear comfortable clothing for movement.

Part-Time Cast: Blackfryars

Part-Time Blackfryar Company: The part-time Blackfryar acting company consists of 40 to 80 members who spend their time portraying the characters who bring our working Tudor village to life. The Blackfryars begin their training in May, attending rehearsals and workshops. Stipends are given for rehearsal attendance. Compensation for Performance days will be offered based on years of service.

Audition Date: Sunday, February 18th
Times: Between 9am and 5pm
Location: Mount Hope Mansion (2775 Lebanon Road; Manheim, PA 17545)
To Schedule: The Blackfryar audition form is now closed.
Additional Details: Each session will consist of a meet and greet with the directing staff and a group improvisation workshop, followed by formal auditions. Sessions last approximately three hours. Please bring a resume and headshot and prepare a 1-2 minute monologue and 16 bars (30 seconds) of a song (either a Capella, or if you would like to accompany yourself, bring the instrument of your choice.)
Please Note: Individual ages 14-18 must have working papers. Anyone under the age of 14 must have a parent or legal guardian on cast with them.
