Homebrew Competition at BrewFest

The BrewFest Homebrew Competition will be part of the fourth annual BrewFest at Mount Hope. The Homebrew Competition will give homebrewers the chance to show off their brews among a festival of professional breweries. This competition is AHA/BJCP sanctioned and will follow the 2008 BJCP Style Guidelines. The Best of Show award will give homebrewers the opportunity to work with a professional brewer to make a batch of their winning recipe for sampling at the 2013 BrewFest. This honor also makes their brew eligible for entry into the GABF Pro-Am Competition.
Best of Luck to All!

Rules and Guidelines

The Competition
The BrewFest at Mount Hope Homebrew Competition is open to the following BJCP styles 1-16 & 18-22 with the exception of 22C (Wood-Aged Beer*).The 2008 edition of the BJCP Style Guidelines will be used to judge entries. It is the brewer's responsibility to determine the correct category/subcategory to enter their beers, and to provide additional information where required. Depending on the number of entries and category distribution, categories and subcategories may be combined or separated for judging and awards purposes. These judging table breakdowns will not be available prior to the competition and will be determined by the competition committee once all the entries have been processed.
Exceptions
Any deviation from the rules established here MUST be confirmed by the competition committee prior to the entry due date or else entries will be disqualified.

*Please note:The reason we do not “accept” category 22C (Wood-Aged Beers) is that the grand prize of the competition is the ability of the winner to brew their recipe with our professional brewer, and for the beer to be sampled at the 2013 BrewFest. As a brewery, we do not make wood aged beers and do not have the necessary barrels and equipment to do so, meaning the winner would not have that as an option. We will allow wood aged beer entries to be judged as long as the home brewer understands that if their beer wins they will not be able to brew with our brewer. Sorry for any inconvenience. Please contact Teresa Centini at Teresa@PaRenFaire.com if you have any other questions or concerns!

Results

Judges' score sheets for each entry will be mailed to the entrants within two weeks of the competition. Awards will be given to the top three entries of each flight as well as Best of Show. Best of Show first place winner gets to work with the BrewMaster from Swashbuckler Brewing Company, their recipe will be brewed at the Swashbuckler Brewing Company and sampled at the 2013 BrewFest at Mount Hope.
Prizes are not exchangeable. The competition committee will resolve any disputes or issues that arise before, during or after the competition.
